Brief
Merlin Entertainments operate over 120 visitor attractions and resort theme parks in over 25 countries, with world-renowned brands Madame Tussauds, Sea Life and Legoland amongst their vast portfolio.
To showcase new wax figures of popular Taiwanese TV presenters Dee Hsu and Kevin Tsai, Merlin’s theming contractors in Shanghai requested large format vinyl graphics based on actual TV set graphics from the highly-rated variety talk shows ‘KangXi Lai Le’ (literally ‘Here Comes KangXi’) and ‘Happy Camp’. These needed to engage visitors familiar with the local shows.
Solution
Working across time zones from Merlin Magic Making’s Studios in London, I provided a number of print-ready graphics designed in Illustrator to dimensions provided by architects’ plans. Artwork was supported by research into the shows, whose bold and colourful set graphics are designed to appeal to youth audiences across Asia, and printed locally in China.
